Books & Materials

Who wrote these books?

Summit Educational Group writes and publishes all of its own original test preparation materials, based on knowledge garnered from over twenty years of test prep experience. Books and materials are regularly revised to ensure that they align with the standards for each test. With Summit's course books, you can be sure you've got the most up-to-date, innovative, and comprehensive test preparation materials available.

How are the books structured?

Our books are structured so that each lesson reinforces fundamental academic skills, provides practice for each concept, and then advances to full-length questions arranged by difficulty level.

What makes Summit's books unique?

We understand that each student learns differently. Our books are designed with the intent of being used between an instructor and a student to cater to each student’s individual needs. Books are broken down into chapters and units that cover every aspect of a test in great detail.  An abundance of leveled practice problems and questions allow the instructor to tailor the quantity and difficulty level of homework so that each student is challenged appropriately.

How does the Instructor’s Edition differ from the Student materials?

The Instructor’s Edition* is an easy-to-use guide for teaching from the Student book. As you teach, the Instructor’s Edition follows along word for word with the student book.  It provides step-by-step answers to the problems  while also offering helpful tutoring hints and notes on key topics to point out to your students. With the intent to create a personalized learning experience our student materials have been designed to stimulate learning from a tutor. The Instructor’s Edition provides the structured curriculum for teaching students.

*Instructor's Edition not available for SAT/PSAT curriculum.

Do the books have practice exercises and “real” questions?

Yes, there are thousands of practice problems in the texts. The exercises in the books are our original materials written to match every type of question and varying difficulty used in the actual tests.

How do the flashcards fit into the curriculum?

Used with both our PSAT and SAT materials, our math and verbal flashcards are set up to highlight specific words or concepts to reinforce key topics covered in the lessons in the books. Each card thoroughly explains the concept or definition by listing examples of use and offering practice exercises. For the SSAT, we also have lower level vocabulary flashcards available.  Both sets of vocabulary cards contain 500 words commonly used on standardized tests.

How does the Online Test Center work?  Do students take the tests online?

The online test center is a template used to score SAT test. It is not an online test. A student takes the test manually, filling in the bubbles on the answer sheet provided, then logs into the test center on our website and grades their test online.  For detailed directions on scoring tests online, click here

Do you offer instructor training?  How much training do we need (how many hours) before we can use your books?

We offer this service to organizations looking for a detailed training program. Instructors learn how to teach the skills and strategies students need to succeed on test day, as well as proven classroom management techniques. Trainings take place on-site, can be scheduled at your convenience, and typically take 6-8 hours to complete (3-4 hours for Math/Verbal Training).

For over twenty years, we've been developing the best strategic and skill-building approaches to test preparation - let us put this knowledge to work for you! If you think this option suits your needs, contact us for more detailed information.

How long does it take to receive an order?

We ship within 3 to 5 business days of the date the order is placed.  We also offer rush delivery when needed at an additional cost.

If we have Summit analyze our tests, how long does it take to get score reports?

There is a 3 to 5 day turnaround time from the date we receive the answer sheets.  A complete class list must be provided as well as an email address for sending the results.

How is the score report broken down?

Our score report provides both numeric scores and percent graphs which break the test down by question type and difficulty level.  Where applicable, score reports may contain information such as raw scores, percentile approximations and stanines.

Can I get a sample copy of your materials?

Summit has sample booklets available that give you an overview of how our books are structured along with sample pages from the Student Book and Instructor's Edition.  If you would like to receive a sample copy of one of our books, please contact us at
