Terms of Service

Effective Date: February 16, 2026

Please note that our tutoring programs are subject to the following terms of service:

  • We charge a one-time nonrefundable setup fee of $200, which will be charged immediately prior to the start of services.
  • Clients must have a valid form of payment on file, to be charged after services are rendered; failure to pay for services rendered within two weeks of service may result in a cessation of future services until the balance is paid in full.
  • A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required for any scheduled lesson cancellations or changes; otherwise, the full session may be charged. Please contact your tutor directly whenever you need to cancel or reschedule a lesson.
  • For in-person tutoring sessions, an adult must be present and accessible, and the tutoring must take place in a public space or common area within the home.
  • For online tutoring sessions, we ask that students please be seated at a table or desk in an environment free from distractions. Appropriate dress is required, and, for privacy reasons, other minors who are not being tutored should not be on camera.
  • If your student contracts a contagious illness, please cancel or reschedule to online any scheduled in-person lessons.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to complete all assigned homework prior to the next scheduled lesson.
  • Summit makes tutoring assignments based solely on the best tutor match available, regardless of race, gender identity, or status in any other protected classes.

For Test Preparation Programs:

  • Whenever possible, we ask students to complete a practice diagnostic test or have a recent (within 4 months) official test score on file before tutoring begins.
  • We strongly recommend that test prep students take advantage of our helpful practice tests throughout the entirety of their tutoring program.
  • Summit is not able to register any student for official tests. For SAT and ACT programs, please visit the College Board website to register for the official SAT and the ACT website to register for the official ACT. For any other tests, please go to the test maker’s official site to register.
  • Score improvement: Summit calculates score improvement as the change in scores between the last test (official or practice) taken prior to the start of tutoring, and the official test taken within one month after the last tutoring session.
  • While Summit cannot guarantee specific official score outcomes and does not provide refunds for services rendered, we are committed to providing the best possible service to each and every student. In the event that a student’s test scores do not show improvement, we are committed to providing a recommended course of action to ensure the student is able to score to their true potential.

For Academic Programs:

  • Academic Tutoring is most successful when tutors are able to utilize the same curricula a student is using in class. It is the client’s responsibility to provide access to all relevant curricula prior to the start of academic tutoring. In the event that access to curricula requires the purchase of physical materials or digital resources, we ask the client to reimburse Summit for those costs.
